Zhi-Qiao Liu;Liang-Hsuan Huang;Luke The;Ya-Chen Hsieh;Ming-Li Chou;Po-Ting Yeh;Jwo-Huei Jou

In order to read text clearly, people often increased the brightness of desk lamp, which rose the incidence rate of photoretinitis. We found that the illuminance required for clear reading increased with diopters and it increased more when font size was reduced. In addition, we also found that under same font size, the illuminance required for reading with white light is higher than that of candlelight.

Kai-Jie Huang Improving the Angular Color Uniformity of White LEDs with Negative Rose Petal Replica Films
Kai-Jie Huang;Shang-Ping Ying

In this study, the replication of rose petal surface structure are patterned onto the top surface of phosphor-converted LEDs (pcLEDs) to reduce the angular variation of correlated color temperature (CCT) of pcLEDs. It is found that the replication of rose petal surface structure on the pcLED can redistribute the blue and yellow light from normal direction to large angle. Thus, the angular color uniformity of pcLEDs with the replication of rose petal surface can be improved.

Ji-Xian Weng Effect of Aging on Curcumin Embedded in Host Materials for White Light-Emitting Diodes
Ji-Xian Weng;Bing-Mau Chen

The photochemical stability of the curcumin used in the phosphor-converted LEDs (pc-LEDs) is investigated in this study. The host materials of silicone and epoxy are used to encapsulate the curcumin, and then illuminated by a blue emitter LED to access the emission spectra measured at different illuminating times. The long-term photochemical stability of the curcumins film using silicone and epoxy is also conducted to verify the use of the curcumins in pcLEDs.

Yang-Jun Zheng Uniformity measurement and analysis for sterilization UVC LED module
Yang-Jun Zheng;Yuan-Heng Cheng;Zhi-Ting Ye

Ultraviolet mercury lamp has been widely used in food, skin surface sterilization. However, traditional mercury lamps are heavy, short in life, and long in the warm-up period. This paper studies Ultraviolet-C light-emitting diodes (UVC-LED) light panel composed of 64 UVC-LED arrays with a wavelength of 274.5nm and uses high thermal conductivity inorganic material packaging which can increase service life and reduce warm-up time. Analyzes and measures its uniformity and radiant flux. The light emission angle is 140°, the uniformity is 93.14%. It can successfully replace the low-pressure mercury lamp as the next generation of disinfection and sterilization technology.
